Twenty-two sessions, including 12 break out sessions, comprise the recently announced agenda for the RPM@Reno Promoters Workshop, November 30 and December 1. The Workshop, produced by Racing Promotion Monthly, the idea newsletter for auto racing promoters, will mark the gatherings’ 45th year upon the return to the Eldorado Hotel Casino, Reno. The Workshops kicks off with the RPM@Reno Reunion social hour the evening of Wednesday, November 29, 2017. The first fifty promoter to claim credentials Wednesday evening have the chance to win free tickets to “The Unbelievables” holiday show in the Eldorado Showroom. Featured presenters include: 41st Auto Racing Promoter of the Year Dan Robinson, marketing consultant and promoter Mike Lysakowski, Chris Blair, GM at Gateway (IL) Motorsports Park, 39th Auto Racing Promoter of the Year Joe Doellefeld, and legal experts Cary Agajanian and Paul Tretreault. Robinson will share what he has learned as he evolved Lucas Oil Speedway from a typical dirt track to a multi-venue, multi-purpose facility. Lysakowski will revisit his popular “Marketing to the Thin Slice,” with a new deeper examination of where short track advertising and communications goes wrong. Blair will show promoters how they can apply the big event blueprint and new trends in advertising/promotion to their events increasing attendance and sponsorship. And, Doellefeld will reflect on the evolution of the short track business with an informal “The more things change, the more they stay the same” theme. Agajanian and Tetreault will report in the racing legal environment and anchor the Workshop’s annual risk management forum.
Thursday breakout sessions will cover: dirt track preparation, sealed engine technology, mobile social media live streaming, race track human resources management, emergency incident management, and the mobilization of race track websites. Friday breakouts include: roundtable discussions for promoters of dirt and paved tracks, ticketing and admissions, the streaming of digital video and timing and scoring, sponsorship, and a special roundtable for promotional newcomers.
The Workshop Series will continue when the Fifth Annual RPM@Indy Workshop, Wednesday, December 6, 2017, in the Media Center, Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The one-day RPM@Indy features a half dozen sessions taken from the RPM@Reno agenda. Its schedule will be confirmed and announced soon. Special lodging rates remain available.
